The National Basketball League of Canada held its inaugural All-Canadian Draft on Thursday September 8, 2016.
There were two rounds of selections and 20 players were picked overall. Once drafted, teams would hold player rights for three years and to be eligible, athletes must be from Canada and between the ages of 19-25. The draft order selection was based on the records of how teams finished the previous season. A coin toss was held between the two newest franchises, Cape Breton & Kitchener.
The results of the draft were as follows:
FIRST ROUND
1. Kitchener-Waterloo Titans – Greg Morrow, University of Western Ontario
2. Cape Breton Highlanders – traded the rights to their #1 pick to Windsor for rights to Shaquille Keith- Alex Campbell, University of Windsor
3. Orangeville A's – Rodell Wigginton, University of Buffalo
4. Island Storm – Tyler Scott, U-PEI
5. Moncton Miracles – Jamal Batalli, Slippery Rock
6. Niagara River Lions – Cedric Kasongo, University of Cape Breton
7. Saint John Mill Rats – Traded for rights of Brian Addison from Island Storm, Island Storm picks Tadeem Green, Ryerson University
8. Windsor Express – to Cape Breton - traded Javon Masters, University of New Brunswick
9. London Lighning – Keanau Post, last played for Raptors 905, Missouri
10. Halifax Hurricanes – Dallin Bachynski, Utah

1. Kitchener-Waterloo Titans – Kevin Thomas, Troy University
2. Cape Breton Highlanders – Jonathan Tull, Central Connecticut State
3. Orangeville A's – Daniel Tulloch, York University
