Stingers are going to Vermont to play an open game on October 29. Good on them!

Well, to get this discussion going, it does look like only the Redmen will compete this year. Stingers were badly outmatched in Burlington. Laval is not going to be there , which is too bad , we really need to have a Quebec team in the mix.

Curious why you think Laval will is "not going to be there". They are the one team McGill has really struggled against in the Q due to athleticism at every spot; LeClerc is a top-20 player in the country, they're well coached and can guard.

McGill in the national #6-#8 spot is about right. They should never have lost the Acadia game, and the Calgary beatdown is looking less and less bad considering the Dinos' recent demolition of UBC. Expect McGill to get better too, especially come January.

Concordia has the tools when healthy, but they really do it to themselves a lot of the time... In any case, I don't think the Q will be a complete cakewalk for the Redmen this year.

McGill had 53 bench points in a 92-56 romp over Laval.

Redmen, Ravens, Rams will, according to their posted schedules, not play a meaningful game against any other team from about November 25 on. In the past, McGill has played Harvard, Ryerson has played Canisius, Carleton has gone to play JUCO's in Florida. Not sure about CW teams. For sure, Dinos and Bears could play some NCAA teams over the holidays.

I kind of thought that Carleton against Brock on December 2 might have some meaning.

This years version of the Q seems to be the strongest yet, that being said it looked like Laval had the best matchup with McGill and they got blown out. What are everyone’s early season thoughts?

I agree that the Q is a strong conference. Not sure if collectively any stronger than the past couple of years but the Q has been "holding its own" for the last few seasons. Bishops almost upset Ottawa 3 years ago, McGill the same against Calgary 2 years ago and again McGill getting to the semi-finals last year. McGill is certainly one of the top teams in Usports and has a chance to win it all if things break their way down the stretch.

The Q is a microcosm of the other conferences - very good teams, some good teams and then a sizable gap to those teams that are just not really in the running this year.

Not sure if this year's Q is "strongest yet", but McGill may actually have its best team of the past six years. The issue with predicting the Q is that it's impossible to adjust for what a grind it is to play teams 4-5 times every year... McGill "on paper" should probably go 16-0, but they won't of course, and it's no guarantee they go into Christmas break 4-0.
